First, visit the Astoria Column atop Coxcomb Hill, a historical site that was one of the first permanent American settlements west of the Rockies. Climb up the steps to the top and be rewarded with stunning views of the coastal town at the mouth of the Columbia River.

You’ll then visit the Columbia River Maritime Museum, where you and your guide will browse historical exhibits offering interesting information about the region’s many shipwrecks, lighthouses, early European exploration, commercial fishing and the Coast Guard.

You’ll also see different kinds of vessels, both life-size and models, indoors and out on the actual Columbia River, the major river of the Northwest that has been an important route for transportation and commerce.

Afterward, enjoy free time for lunch in Astoria (own expense) before driving south along the coast to Cannon Beach, where you’ll see Haystack Rock, a designated marine sanctuary full of tide pools. Enjoy more free time here to shop, walk along the beach, and explore the shops and art galleries that fill this vibrant, charming town.

On our return, you’ll stop at Camp 18, a historical logging museum that offers a glimpse into the history of Oregon’s important timber industry. You’ll be dropped off at your Portland hotel in the evening.

We were told that a visit to Portland wouldn't be complete without visiting the Oregon Coast and we're glad we did! The coastline was a rugged natural beauty and the coastal towns were quaint and lovely. Our guide, Eddie, was awesome and had genuine enthusiasm for the area, which was catching.

Our tour guide was phenomenal. She provide us with numerous data - about trees, rock formations, area geography, history, and many other information. The weather was extremely foggy so limited what coast line was visible. So added a cheese factory and a wine tour to compensate for the weather. What an extremely delightful day.

The guide was very knowledgeable and flexible. When rain and fog closed off one of our viewing stops she asked what we might want to do. Then she took us to a cheese factory and a winery. We got to see the coast and when the weather turned we were able to see other sites which were great.

Pretty disappointed in this tour. We paid $200 for the specific itinerary that was advertised but an hour outside of Portland the tour guide said everything changed and we wouldn't be doing half the things on the agreed upon itinerary. Ended up getting back to Portland 2 hrs later than expected.
